At Integrity, we celebrate individuals who bring unique experiences and perspectives to our family. On a special episode of the “Inspire” Podcast, we speak with Sean Schickel, a retired Major of United States Marine Corps who brings a blend of leadership, courage, and adaptability from his military background into his insurance career.
From a young age, Sean harbored a singular dream — to become a Marine. He pursued this dream with relentless determination, rising from the enlisted ranks to end his military career as a Major.
His tenure was punctuated by a pivotal deployment to Ramadi, Iraq, where he led his Marines through some of the most severe fighting seen since the Vietnam War. His experiences in Iraq showcased his leadership and resilience, qualities that he now brings to the industry.
Sean also served in Washington, D.C., where he was charged with planning for the inauguration of President Barack Obama. This further developed his leadership and provided him with a deeper understanding of the power of cooperation and service — lessons he carries with him today.
Intertwined with Sean’s personal journey is a long-standing family tradition of military service. This proud lineage spans from his grandfather, a World War II Navy pilot, his father’s time in the Army, to several cousins and stepbrothers who joined the Marines. This tradition continues today, with his daughter now serving as a Marine pilot, further solidifying the Schickel family’s dedication to country and service.
After retiring in 2015, Sean transitioned to the insurance world, a shift that has proved rewarding. His experiences in the Marines equipped him with invaluable skills that he now employs in serving agents and clients. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience, adaptability and an unwavering commitment to the values that embody the spirit of the Integrity family. We are proud to call him our friend and partner.
