Recently on the “Inspire” Podcast, we heard from Todd Stewart, CEO of One Resource Group. He shared with us some of the ways he’s been able to make company culture the keystone of how his business operates.

One Resource Group has an amazing work environment. Their headquarters is located on a huge plot of land that is filled with activities for the employees. They have walking paths, sports equipment and a fishing pond on-site. Todd made sure that his people make the most of these amenities by implementing afternoon recess.

Yes, you read that right. His entire company takes a recess at 3 o’clock every afternoon. For 20 minutes, employees are required to leave their desks and get up and move around. On days when the weather does not permit outdoor recess, there are still plenty of fun indoor options available, from the pool table and board games to setting up a game of cornhole in the office lobby. There’s always something to do during recess.

The practice has been a huge success. It has increased productivity and helped build a cohesive company culture. At One Resource Group, they truly know how to work hard and play hard.
