On the “Inspire” Podcast, we’ve had some great stories about the importance of family and how legacies of service have inspired our partners. This week, we learned about a family legacy that has not only inspired a business but also one of service to our nation.

Darin W. Lucas, President of Aegis Financial and new Integrity Partner, visited with us to share how his father’s legacy has shaped him, his family and his business. Darin’s father, Byron, served four years in the United States Marines Corps and made a career in the insurance industry.

Because of his father’s influence, Darin started in the insurance industry at a very young age. When the time came to venture out on his own, Darin turned to his brother-in-law, Carl Muehlemeyer, with the idea of building an insurance agency of their very own. Together, they founded Aegis Financial.

While Darin did not join the military, his oldest son did. Jameson Lucas is currently serving overseas with the Marine Corps, most recently in Guam, and is on the fast track to becoming a sergeant. Before his service, Darin and his son visited Europe together and bonded over World War II history.

Darin shows equal dedication to both his home and work families. That dedication and legacy of serving Americans is a great example of why we love hearing from our partners. Their inspiring stories show how the example of one person can affect a family for generations.
