When it comes to success, new partner Brent Abernathy of Abernathy Financial Services knows what it takes. That’s because, in addition to being a businessman and leader, he is a retired professional athlete and Olympic gold medalist!

Brent discovered his love for baseball early in life and was drafted directly into the major leagues after high school, playing professionally for 13 years! He loved his time in the Major League, playing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. However, one of the highlights of his career was competing on an international level, representing the United States at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

Going for Gold

Playing for Team USA was the experience of a lifetime! Brent shared what it felt like waiting in the tunnel before walking the track at the opening ceremonies in front of 125,000 spectators. He was on the greatest stage in the world with the greatest athletes in the world. USA Baseball were considered the sport’s underdogs, however Brent shared the amazing story of how the team came together in order to beat Cuba, the favored team, to win the gold!

We loved hearing about Brent’s experience at the Olympics and how it has impacted his leadership style. To learn more about his story, go check out the rest of his special video episode over on the “Inspire” Podcast!
