Maria Collado’s entrepreneurial spirit was shaped by her family’s journey from the Dominican Republic to Florida. Her parents instilled in her the belief that in America, anything is possible with hard work and dedication. Maria’s path to insurance was rooted in this belief as she started working in cosmetology. She did not want to waste any opportunity to provide for her family and achieve success on her own terms.
Her husband, Jorge, saw her potential and would often try to recruit her into the insurance industry. But Maria was proud of what she was accomplishing on her own and would not yield so easily. However, on the “Inspire” podcast, she tells us that all it took was seeing an example of what the insurance industry can truly provide.
After a long day at work, she was welcomed home by the sight of her husband playing with their kids. Jorge made his final pitch to Maria, asking: “How was your day?” Maria told him how much money she had made with pride. But what Jorge told her changed her view of the industry. He had made the same amount but had been able to be home with the kids.
The opportunity of more time with her family — she couldn’t say no to that.
