Long before Garrett Sherrill founded ST6 Insurance Group or spent years on the mound as a professional baseball player, he was a 6-year-old boy facing the loss of his mother.
Garrett’s mother passed away after a battle with cancer, and the loss devastated the Sherrill family. Yet amid the heartbreak, life insurance provided stability and gave his father the freedom to focus on what mattered most: being there for his sons. Garrett spent his childhood playing sports, and through every game and road trip, his father was there. Whether standing on the sidelines, sitting in the bleachers or traveling with the team, Garrett can’t recall a single game his dad missed. That unwavering presence left a lasting impression.
As Garrett grew, so did his talent on the baseball diamond. He pitched throughout high school and college before being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. His professional career spanned six years across the minor leagues and independent baseball, where he further developed the discipline, perseverance and work ethic that defined his success. But after years of injuries, a devastating shoulder tear brought his baseball journey to an unexpected end.
Like many athletes, Garrett found himself at a crossroads. As he considered what came next, he reflected on the example his father had set years earlier and knew he wanted a career that would allow him to prioritize his own family. That search led him to the insurance industry, where the same work ethic that fueled his baseball career quickly translated into business success. Today, Garrett leads ST6 Insurance Group, helping families prepare for life’s unexpected moments while building a culture centered on service, security and putting families first.
